My Approach
I hope to convey empathy, compassion and warmth, as well as a non-judgmental safe space for the individuals I see. My practice is evidence-based and integrative; I predominantly draw upon Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I use a person-centred style, tailoring my approach to the needs of those I work with.
When we first meet, I will ask you to tell me about the difficulties that give you a sense of ‘stuckness’. You may feel trapped in a vicious cycle, unsure how to break it. I will be guided by you to tell me what you want to get from therapy, and at what pace. This space is just for you. We both bring our own expertise to the therapy room; you bring your expertise of you, and I bring my expertise as a Clinical Psychologist. Together we can form an effective working partnership in understanding the difficulties, and move you forwards towards living your life more fully in accordance with what is important to you.
Although ideally, we would meet face-to-face, I am able to offer remote therapy either via online video call systems (such as Zoom or Skype), or by telephone.
I hope the information here goes some way to answering some of your questions and concerns, but if not, please feel free to contact me and I'll do my best to help.
